360 Wave: First off, we understand that this is your first 360 Interview so welcome! Can you share with the wave community have you got this opportunity?

Damo Wilkes: Well, I got this opportunity from contacting you guys on Facebook.

360 Wave: How long have you been waving and would you consider yourself an elite waver?

Damo: I started waving when I was only 13. At first I was never ever able to get waves, but after one hair cut I saw a wave, so I started brushing. I consider myself not only as a elite waver but a waveologist.

360 Wave: What are some characteristics an elite waver has to have?

Damo: An elite waver has to have ambition, vanity, commitment, dedication, and good self-esteem.

360 Wave: Can you share with the wave community what your morning/night method looks like?

Damo: Well, obviously before I go to sleep I put my doo rag on, and when I wake up I take it off and hop in the shower. I put shampoo in my hair and brush my hair while I’m rinsing the shampoo. Then I brush my hair dry when I get out the shower, put the wave grease in and go to school. At night before bed I brush, grease, and doo rag the waves and do it all over again.

360 Wave: What would you say are your top 3 go-to products and why?

Damo: My top 3 go to products are 360 Style wave grease, Murray’s wave grease, and maximum hold Sportin Waves. I choose these because they hold my hair and moisturize it the best for those wet-looking waves.

360 Wave: What’s the biggest piece of wave advice you’ve ever received?

Damo: Well, truthfully you guys gave me the best advice: brush, doo rag and moisturize.

360 Wave: Who are some heavy hitters in the wave game right now? Do you have anyone you look up to?

Damo: I actually look up to my brother’s waves, he’s the person who put me on to them

360 Wave: Which 360 interview is your favorite and why?

Dam0: I actually like the way Sir Cruse broke down his wave training, that caught my attention.

360 Wave: What would you like to see more of on 360wave.com? What content do you like on our site?

Damo: I would like to see more posts on the designs on the waves, like different types of waves.

360 Wave: Any last words you’d like to say to the Wave team and the wave community?

Damo: To the wave community: let me see y’all keep brushing so these people know we not playing with these waves, and holla at me on Facebook at pee.dot@aol.com, Damo is out, shout out to Team Flossy and Team Gitchy, my bro Nunu and Danny. Thank you for the opportunity, hit me up for another interview anytime.

360 Wave: Breeze, we remember you in being in the Elite 8 during the March wave madness we had going! We’re excited to have you! How has it been since then?

Breeze Kutz: It’s been well! Just getting ready for the all-female tournament that my team (Team Supreme) is hosting, and keeping up with people who have reached out to me for help and things of that nature! I’m in barber school too so I’m just tryin’ to maintain and eventually incorporate my barber skills into my YouTube videos, and staying focused on getting whoever wants it some recognition in the wave game!

360 Wave: We know that you’re close with wave veteran Racheal Boyd, can you share with us a little bit about how she has helped you in the wave game?

Breeze: Man where do I start!!! She’s been helping me out with everything waves-related, and how to not only be known for your waves but also for what you do in the wave community. Basically showed me how to crawl before I walk around here and to stay level headed. I scalped one time and she actually got upset with me lol, my progress had been goin’ really well, too. So it’s cool to have a mentor who actually cares about your waves and progress like you do, I’d say she’s one of the best things that have happened to me since I decided to make waves a part of my life.

360 Wave: What would you say are the top 3 qualities an elite waver must have? And why

Breeze: Dedication, Humbleness, and a go-getter mentality.

I say that because anybody can have waves, but it takes a different kind of person to take the time out of there day every day to help others get waves, and on top of that still perfect your own waves and make a name for yourself. That’s dedication. Humbleness means staying true and loyal to your team if you have one and giving credit where its due for those who helped you get to where you are in the wave game. And you have to be a go-getter to be a strong waver because you dedicate a lot of time in the wave game if you’re serious enough. And in due time you will be crowned elite whether you want to be or not, once your hard work really starts to pay off.

360 Wave: Can you share with us what your night/morning method looks like?

Breeze: Well I have a different process than most. I use product every three days and wash on Sundays. So my night and morning method on the days when I do use product are: I apply my COLDLVBEL Wolfing Pomade along with my leave-in conditioner and serum, brush each of those in with the wolfing pomade coming last, and right now I am on a 4,000 stroke brushing regime lol. So I brush 1 time usually 1,000 on each side and comb until I like the look. But if you’re a beginner, you’re good just brushing for about 20-30 minutes morning and night and a little throughout the day, even in school if you youngins have time (just not in class—school is important pay attention!).

360 Wave: What are your top 3 go-to wave products, and why?

Breeze: I have been using COLDLVBEL products almost the whole time I’ve been waving: Wolfing Pomade, Ultra Shampoo, and Premium Wave and Scalp Butter. All Diane brushes.

And the why is because they all work really well for my hair. Through trial and error I’ve been through many many products and always end up going back to those same ones. They leave my hair really healthy all the time and I don’t have to use it often, but I can if I choose to. The Wolfing Pomade gives just enough hold when I’m wolfing and doesn’t leave a greasy residue to the touch, which is important to me. The Premium Wave and Scalp Butter is a lighter hold but good for a fresh cut nice shine. The Ultra Shampoo I like a lot because it’s not super sudsy, its all natural, and it rinses really really nice, not leaving any of the residue from whatever you had in prior to washing your hair!

360 Wave: Who are some of your biggest role models in the wave game? And how active are they in the online community?

Breeze: I’d have to say my mentor is the first! Racheal Boyd. But I’ve gotten a looottt of advice talking to Young Wavy also. Kado has helped me out too in many ways waves and he’s helping me out with the tournament we are hosting. Seein’ Frank Blackwell work hard has kept me motivated also, and we both kinda got on the scene around the same time and we are both doin’ big things. Also the Menace 2 Wavery Pack lol. I look up to a lot of these vets; I still don’t consider myself to be one so it’s pretty surreal. Everybody is surprisingly active in the online community. My teammates often ask if I ever go to sleep!! I’m sure everybody mentioned gets that question, too.

360 Wave: What is the biggest piece of advice you can give to a new waver?

Breeze: Don’t give up. Sometimes it seems like you’re not progressing or you will never get there. You just need to brush. Products don’t give you waves—the brushing does. So just keep brushing. Find a person that has waves similar to what you’re trying to achieve and get advice from them when you need it.

360 Wave: Any last words you have for 360 Team and the wave community?

Breeze: Just thanks for taking the time out for the interview, it feels good to get noticed! Also you can find me on youtube.com/CartierDavinci and follow me on Instagram under Breeze Kutz! I’m on EliteSpins, EliteKings and all sorts of wave pages on Facebook. Thanks to everybody who has helped me get this far!

Alex “Artist At Lee” taking the wave world by storm! #360waves 0

Our wave team had a chance to catch up with wave veteran Alex aka “Artist AT Lee.” When he’s not busy perfecting his waves, he’s perfecting his music or writing movie scripts! Watch out for this up-and-coming artist because he’s about to blow up! You can follow him on Twitter @ArtistATLee! Read on for the full interview.

360 Wave: First off, this is your first 360 interview, so, welcome! How did you found out about 360 Wave and what are your views on it so far?

Artist AT Lee: On Twitter I found out about y’all and followed y’all right away because it was amazing to see so many guys with 360 waves posting pictures and showing off their hard work. I just had to get involved with the movement and post my 360. I like the way y’all have the website up and doing interviews and on Twitter—keep up the good work because there are guys out here that cherish our 360 waves, lol.

360 Wave: How long have you had waves and do you plan on continuing to have them? If so, why?

Artist AT Lee: I had a 360 since I entered college and cut out the braids from my high school years. So, about 10 years so far, off and on because sometime I would just have to have them fade, but the 360 really stands out a lot better and turns heads. I don’t plan on cutting my 360 no time soon because it looks good on me, and besides, look at all the guys trying to get a 360.

360 Wave: Who would you say are some heavy hitters in the wave game right now? Are you subscribed to any of their YouTube channels? Who are some of your favs?

Artist AT Lee: I’m one of the heavy hitters in the wave game because I’ve been doing this for so long that I get them when I want them. I feel that every guy/woman I seen with the 360 is a heavy hitter. There are no losers in this sport, everybody has a different set of waves, so whoever’s got waves, I know they put time in to earn them. So, no favs to be honest.

360 Wave: What are the top 3 qualities an elite waver must have and why?

Artist AT Lee: Confidence, creativity and loyalty, because that’s what creates the 360 style, and that’s what it takes.

360 Wave: Which was your favorite 360 interview so far and why?

Artist AT Lee: Seth Squire is my favorite interview because he seems like a bright guy who cherishes his waves, but he also gets big points for going to school with a 360 and his major is College is Criminal Justice, which is awesome.

360 Wave: What are your top 3 go-to products to keep your wave game fresh?

Artist AT Lee: I use Olive Oil Moisturizing Hair Lotion and Olive Glossing Shampoo and Olive Oil Glossing Polisher. My wife got me the other products when she saw me using the Oil Moisturizing Hair Lotion because she’s big on taking care of hair.

360 Wave: Do you have a preferred morning/night method that you apply?

Artist AT Lee: Every night I wash my hair with shampoo, then I brush for about 5 minutes and put the Moisturizing Hair lotion on my 360, then my du rag overnight. When I’m blessed to wake up in the morning, I put the Olive Oil Glossing Polisher on to shine the 360 up and step out feeling great to start the day.

360 Wave: What is the biggest piece of advice you have received for your waves? And what is the biggest piece of advice you can then give to wavers just starting out?

Artist AT Lee: My wife told me to wash my 360 more often, which was good advice, and my advice to the starters is that in time will get you that 360.

360 Wave: Can you share with us a little bit about your interests/hobbies? We know you’re doing music so anything you’re working on that’s interesting?

Artist AT Lee: Right now I’m working on my new single called Let Me Go by Artist AT Lee, and I would be dropping that on July 9th, on my birthday. To download it just follow me on Twitter—On July 9th I’ll post it all day on my page. I’m also just finishing up writing a movie script and also getting ready to shoot a video for my new single. For more information, follow @ArtistAtlee on Twitter.

360 Wave: Any last words to the 360 Wave team and the wave community?

Artist AT Lee: Keep God first before pursuing anything in life, and never give up on something you want and need in your life. God bless, thank y’all for your time.

Catching up with First Lady of Wave Nation Racheal Boyd 1

Gentleman, our next interviewee needs no introduction. The first woman to break the barrier in a male dominated world, our wave team is proud to feature Racheal Boyd in this week’s 360 interview! Read on for our the latest behind the First Lady of Wave Nation! You can follow her on Twitter @RachealMMGBoyd

Screen Shot 2013-05-06 at 5.42.20 PM

360 Wave: Rach! We’ve been meaning to do this follow up interview with you for a while now so welcome back!! Tell us how it’s been going and what’s you’ve been up to!

Racheal Boyd: It’s been going good, I have been busy with school but at the same time I’m still going to be active in the wave game, because that’s what makes me the waver that I am.

360 Wave: As a wave veteran, do you feel that the wave game is becoming stronger? What are some ways we, as a community, can grow bigger?

Racheal: At times it can be a challenge but I feel that is what makes us stronger. We grow from trials and errors, from not only products but wavers as well. Not everything and everybody will agree but its up to you to make the best out of it for yourself.

360 Wave: Ok you have to be honest, which 360 interview has been your favorite so far and why?

Racheal: My first interview is my favorite. That’s where the “1st Lady of Wave Nation” was born. That name has stuck with me for a minute and it’s well known. It’s also my favorite because 360 Wave recognized me as a female waver and I feel like you’ve really helped make a statement to all the female wavers out there.

360 Wave: Can you share with us what your morning/night method looks like?

Racheal: My morning/night method is very simple. It’s comb brush and take your time doing this, because you will learn a lot about your pattern. With my procedures and products my hair stay moisturized till my next wash day. I do hot oil treatments once a week with www.xoticsproducts.com; this helps keep your hair healthy and moisturized. So that’s what keeps my hair moisturized as well as my other products I’m using.

360 Wave: What are your top 3 go-to products, and why? How long have you been using each?

Racheal: I go through different stages of products from low length of hair to high length because I wolf for 6-10 weeks. So, when my hair is low I use Sweet Jamila by Xotics, when i’m in my mid weeks I use Seasick Moisture Creme and Frederick Benjamin SleekWater Pomade, and when I’m heavy wolfin’ I use Seasick Moisture Creme and Seasick Pomade. But on days when I’m going out or I’ve got a photoshoot I add Sweet Jamila for that killer shine. But if I had to narrow down the 3 most used it would be Sweet Jamila, Seasick crème, and Pomade.

360 Wave: What’s the biggest advice you can give to newer wavers? And the biggest advice you can give to the veteran wavers like yourself?

Racheal: The biggest advice I can give them is to keep being you and always be honest with your fellow wavers. Some wavers talk about respect, but what I learned is that you will only be respected if you keep it real all around. I’m talking from products to wavers.

At the end of the day, if you come upon a product, if it’s good or bad give your honest opinion on it. Don’t look at it as trying to impress the company or trying to keep the sponsorship going because you’re then not doing it for waving; it will become about something else, which isn’t what got you here. Recognition having companies want to do business with you is a blessing, but don’t forget where you come from, and try to bring ideas and more to your company. That way everybody can be on the same page and do what we are here to do, and that’s bring great things to the wave nation.

I think that’s why companies reach out to me, because they know I’m not all about “just let me promote and you sponsor.” They know I’m out here keeping it real and educating my wavers, to the point that if I find your product beneficial to me or to a group of wavers, then I will give credit where its due.

360 Wave: Do you feel that the effort you put into your hair pays off in other aspects of your life? How?

Racheal: Yes, my effort is paying off and I’m honored everyday to get email from followers who find me and what I do interesting. I look forward to that, and with my guide going around that’s an even bigger accomplishment for me, because that guide is something I built up from day one of waving up until now. It’s paying off because of the bar that has been raised for female wavers in the game. When I first saw a man with waves it was a style mostly known for men. But coming on YouTube I didn’t really know or seen any female waver until I hit up Facebook.

360 Wave: Any last words you’d like to say to 360 Team and the wave community?

Racheal: I would like to say I’m proud of my wave team and community and I look forward to bigger things happening for us in the future. Also I would like to thank the people at Kent Brushes for doing this collaboration with me on my own personal wave brush.

Shea Moisture Three Butters Styling Pomade Review 0

What’s poppin’ out there wavers?! It’s ya boy B. Jackson back with a premier review on Shea Moisture’s Three Butters Styling Pomade! A lot of wavers have been asking about this pomade and I’m here to share my insights. You don’t want to skip this review!!

Screen shot 2013-05-02 at 12.23.14 PM

As most wavers know by now, Shea Moisture has taken the wave game by storm with their all-natural organic products. From the curl enhancing smoothie to their shampoo’s & deep masque treatments, Shea Moisture is definitely the go-to brand for the majority of wavers. Wavers have been anxious to get their hands on Shea Moisture’s all-natural pomade. I’ve been blessed to get ahold of this product to review and this product is the REAL DEAL.

This all-natural pomade consists of three main ingredients: Shea, Mango & Avocado. The pomade’s purpose is to provide control, shape & shine. The styling pomade comes in a 4 oz. can—not too big, but just the right size. When I opened the container I noticed a huge difference between this pomade and others. It was not thick at all! The substance and look was similar to grits. Yes, breakfast grits! The pomade was runny and full of grains, which I definitely wasn’t expecting. The smell of the product is decent and has a nice strong lingering scent. I applied a fingertip-full to the palm of my hand and began to work the product in. When I began to work the pomade in my hands, the pomade quickly turned became oily and waxy, similar to Cold Label’s Premium Wave & Scalp Butter.

After the product was worked in, I applied the pomade to my hair (which was slightly damp) and began to distribute it evenly around my head. The shine was amazing for pomade, which was VERY surprising to me. I’ve never had pomade that made my hair look and feel so healthy and give it so much shine. The control was decent—not the strongest hold, but very manageable. The hold wasn’t a thick greasy hold like most pomades, it felt like a light wax layer over my waves that kept my waves uniform. The Three Butter Pomade is very easy to wash out, no buildup at all. Shea Moisture wins again with another GREAT product. I give this product a 9/10, the 9 being because I thought the smell could have been a little better, but overall I was very pleased! I still have much work to do with this pomade, I haven’t seen its full potential, but sometimes you just KNOW when a product is the TRUTH!

I encourage every waver out there to try this product if you can manage to find it. I know Shea Moisture retails at Walgreens, CVS & Target primarily, but you can also find their products online. As of right now, I do know that this pomade is a bit difficult to find. If I can find an abundance of it I’ll be sure to let the wave family know! Until next time wavers, keep them waves spinnin’!!

“If you work hard for your waves you’ll work hard for everything else you want.” -Seth Squire 0

Wave team caught up with one of 360 Wave’s earliest supporters Seth Squire! We can’t even keep track of how many interviews he has done with us! Make sure you’re following Seth on Twitter @Surreal_reivax! Read on for the full interview.

Seth Squire

360 Wave: First off, our wave team has to give you a personal shout out because you have been there for us since day one and we really appreciate that. Second, how does it feel to be back on here with your 3rd interview? Or is it the 4th?

Seth Squire: Ah yeah, I remember day one. But I truly have no idea what number this interview is ahaha.

360 Wave: Back in February we did a “Day in the Life of a 360 Waver” segment with you. How has that changed for you as far as routine and overall lifestyle?

Seth Squire: Well my 360 swirl routine is a lot more precise and dead on. It’s not a brush morning, noon, and night routine, but more long brush sessions in the morning and at night. My lifestyle overall has improved dramatically from the hard work I put into my head, and also into my work and weightlifting.

360 Wave: What are the biggest differences you’ve seen between when 360 first started and now?

Seth Squire: The only difference in on day one and now is the website and expansion. Other than that everything is the same and the music features are pretty dope. Also how you have Facebook and Twitter but not Instagram…..Get a Instagram. [We do have one!! Follow @360_wave!!]

360 Wave: In your last interview, you definitely put a big emphasis on the importance of putting school as your number one priority. To quote: “School is first and you should never take it lightly.” For those who do take it lightly, what kind of advice would you give to them?

Seth Squire:Ok my major at Tyler Junior College is Criminal Justice and Investigational Studies. I cannot stress the importance of school enough. Some folk say college ain’t for me—shut up, because education is for everybody. If you’re reading this thinking, “forget what he’s talking bout, I just want waves,” it’s going to come back to bite you sooner or later. And if it’s later it might be too late, so, please don’t take it lightly.

360 Wave: We know that 360 Wave is about wave training and recognizing up-and-coming wavers but do you feel that there is a bigger mission beyond achieving nice waves? Feel free to elaborate.

Seth Squire: Okay don’t get me wrong, everyone wants great waves and that’s dope (put in ya work). But working for waves and achieving your goals are about way more than brush strokes. I believe if you work hard for your waves you’ll work hard for everything else you want.

360 Wave: You’ve done a couple of product reviews for us in the past, and we’re sure you’ve seen many others, which one would you say is your favorite and why?

Seth Squire: My favorite reviews are by Sir Cruse—Seasick Moisturizer and Pomade; Countryboiwaver—Beautiful Textures; Youngwavy4eva—ColdLvbel.

360 Wave: What do you think makes 360 Wave and the 360 Wave community unique and/or stand out?

Seth Squire: Its serious expansion. It goes from your community to Facebook, Twitter and the website. And now I’m getting added on to different wave groups because of 360 Wave.

360 Wave: Who do you see as up-and-coming wavers, who’s going to make it as big as someone like yourself, Sir Cruse, and/or Young Wavy?

Seth Squire: Ohhh uhmm…I don’t know. I’m more of a lurker, but truly anybody who’s up-and-coming gets kudos from me because I was once there as well.

360 Wave: What would you say are the top 3 most importantly characteristics or qualities to become an elite waver?

Seth Squire: DEDICATION, HUMBLENESS, and SHOWMANSHIP.

360 Wave: Any last words you’d like to say to 360 Team and the 360 community?

Seth Squire: YO TO ALL WAVERS!!! Hit ya boy up on Facebook, YouTube, Twitter and Instagram. Inbox me! @SirSquire-Twitter SurrealWavez-YT @Surreal_reivaX-Insta Seth Squire-FB S/O TO 360WAVE FOR HAVING MY BACK SINCE DAY 1!!!!!!!

“Learning from all the best wavers who take grooming seriously. It’s a way of life.” -Duwann Jones 0

What’s good wavers!! Our wave team is back with a fresh interview of top waver Duwann Jones! Duwann’s been in the game for 10 years (and counting!) so make sure you follow him for wave tips on Twitter @74rippped! Read on for the full interview.

duwan jones 1

360 Wave: Duwann, really good to have you on here! We believe this is your first 360 interview, how do you feel about that?

Duwann Jones: I’m really excited to be involved with the premiere site for wavers to learn techniques, be inspired, give advice and showcase there hard work.

360 Wave: How long have you been waving and do you think it’s paying off?

Duwann: I have been waving for about 10 years and I think it has absolutely paid off. I work really hard at whatever I put my mind to.

360 Wave: What would you consider the most important aspect of waving?

Duwann: Brushing is the most important aspect of waving, without it you can’t see any results. That’s the most basic principle of a good waver.

360 Wave: In your opinion, what are the three top qualities an elite waver must have and why?

Duwann: Consistency, patience, and determination. You must be consistent with brushing, shampooing and conditioning, moisturizing, your whole maintenance program. Waves will not come overnight, but with patience your natural wave pattern soon shows. Dedication comes down to how bad do you want it. You must stay focused at all times.

360 Wave: What are the top 3 must-have products in your arsenal? And why?

Duwann:

1: A great brush that feels comfortable in the hand and also to the hair and head.

2: A great natural shampoo and conditioner to help clean and neutralize the hair without damaging the texture.

3: A natural moisturizer to add shine and control and to keep the scalp healthy.

360 Wave: Can you go over your morning/night method for the new wavers out there?

Duwann: In the morning I take off my durag and add Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie and brush my hair in the exact same pattern every time. At night I brush again, add a dime size of Argan oil, tie my hair down and I’m done. I keep things real simple.

360 Wave: Who are some heavy hitters in the wave game right now?

Duwann: Sir Cruse and Youngwavy4eva, they both have a unique wave pattern that stands out along with great advice that any waver can apply and get incredible results.

360 Wave: What’s been your favorite part about 360wave.com?

Duwann: Learning from all the great wavers who take grooming and creating an artistic look seriously. It’s a way of life.

360 Wave: If you can give a new waver the single most important advice, what would it be and why?

Duwann: Find what works for you and stay dedicated.

360 Wave: Any last words you’d like to say to the wave team and the wave community?

Duwann: We are a movement that’s positive, healthy and eye-catching. Thanks 360 Wave for all you do.
